Valentino’s Resort 18 Bags Report

Since I’m a MASSIVE Valentino fan, but couldn’t find detail shots of the latest Resort 18 bags, I pulled them from the official Instagram page instead. Scroll to the bottom for my thoughts on the collection!

The Verdict: As huge a Valentino fan that I am, I literally cringed when I saw those jeans and cargo pocket flat totes with the padlock detail. I mean, seriously though, what is up with that? Perhaps Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli was going for the deconstructed look, but I think that really destroys the Valentino aesthetic. I mean, I guess he was playing with the boundaries but I think that totally went into the “castoffs” end of the spectrum because of how distasteful it looked, well, to me at least.

As for the Rockstuds, I’m not a huge fan of the colours he chose to colour-block with, and paired with those white studs, hardware and chain strap instead of the usual pale gold, is just way too much, especially when there’s so much quilting going on on the same bag. If I had to pick though, I guess the one on the Rockstud Spike was slightly more bearable, but I really don’t like the white hardware at all. And what’s up with that white quilted studded fanny pack? Perhaps the only bags I actually liked from the collection were the heart shaped minaudière with the harness  and that pink and white striped one. I’m super disappointed with the collection to be honest, because Valentino Resort collections have always been my favourite! *sobs*
