#PFW: Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 18 Bags Report

Last season, Miuccia Prada did something very brave and showcased just one bag on the runway. This time around, for Spring/Summer 18, she debuted a couple of new styles, along with some that possibly look familiar to you, because they’re slight variations of existing models such as the Miu Logo, or that little double ring hardware with the leather tab that we see on some of the Miu Dahlia bags, and the Miu Lady

The Verdict: Mrs. Prada seemed to favour basket bags for SS18 and we see these in 2 different styles: in tricolour rattan, or in a combination of the classic Matelasse leather in a tote style that comes with a rattan base. I guess the idea of basket bags make sense because well, Spring and Summer calls for lots of picnics, don’t they? Or perhaps she took inspiration from the current basket bag trend that Cult Gaia started? Well, whatever the reason, basket bags are definitely season-appropriate. What I also noticed was that most of the totes that we see here, sport long straps, for the purpose of being carried around on the shoulder. And then there were the mesh frame clutches with floral appliqué and pearl embellishments, which are definitely wedding appropriate, whether you’re the bride, or simply just going to be attending a wedding. My pick, though, is that tricolour clutch-cum-crossbody bag with the dual satchel-esque leather tabs, and mhmm, the fact that it’s colour-blocked, is also a significant contributing factor to it being my favourite from the collection. 😉
