Longchamp By Shayne Oliver Capsule Collection
Longchamp has collaborated with Shayne Oliver, the founder of New York-based cult menswear label Hood By Air. This partnership takes the form of a Capsule Collection of travel accessories, footwear, and ready-to-wear for both men and women, including Oliver’s take on the iconic Le Pliage® tote, as well as garment bags.
Inspired by and arm sling (yep, the sort one wears when healing from an injury), this sling bag morphs into a bag. The Double Le Pliage ® is the epitome of the phrase “business in the front, party at the back”: the no-nonsense front, and “fun” side, with “HIATUS”. The t-shirt utilises the Longchamp graphic along with the handles from the Le Pliage ® to signify the fusion of the old and the new.
I really like the idea of working with brands that are masters of their craft … Longchamp has a prestigious history of providing luxury travel essentials with expert craftsmanship. It
made total sense to work with them on my first all accessories project. – Shayne Oliver –
One look at the capsule and several elements stand out: “REALNESS”, which signifies the purpose of the bags having a “realness of life” instead of placing importance on logos; “HIATUS”, which is symbolic for the period when Oliver took a break from the “by Shayne Oliver” project he was working on, which happed to be a “series of collaborations” with several brands.
While this is not the first collaboration for Longchamp or Shayne Oliver, it was a
particularly energizing experience to work with Shayne in order to offer an unexpected collection to our customers … Designing Longchamp product through Shayne’s lens
was an exciting challenge that allowed us to create product that is truly original – Longchamp Artistic Director, Sophie Delafontaine –
The collection will drop in the US and Europe later this week, on 4 May, and will make its international debut on 11 May.
