Longchamp Birds Tote

I’ve never been a Longchamp fan. Although it’s undeniable that their foldable nylon totes and bags are practical and great when travelling, It’s just a regular single-coloured tote bag, that is quite “blah”, if you know what I mean. It’s definitely a classic case of function over fashion. And since they became available in KL some years back, they’ve been spotted on the arms of practically everyone. Perhaps it’s because Longchamp’s nylon bags are more affordable. But then again, if we’re talking about affordability, Vuittons are common too, but they aren’t exactly affordable now, are they, especially when compared with Lonchamp? Perhaps that’s because of the distinctive Vuitton monogram and logo. But anyway, you catch my drift. In fact, Lonchamp’s relatively inexpensive nylon totes have become so popular that even the counterfeit industry has started producing knock-offs.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not my inner snob speaking because this goes way back, even before my Pre-designer bag days. Back then, I’d rather use a non-designer bag rather than a Longchamp.

In recent years, Longchamp has been collaborating with designers such as Jeremy Scott to appear more edgy and youthful. The Limited Edition “Bugs” and “Butterfly” collections were cute, Yet, I still was not sold – they weren’t something I would consider getting….until I saw this interesting bird motif nylon tote from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Definitely something I’d consider getting…. And coming from a non-Longchamp fan like myself, that speaks volumes!! ;D
