#LFW: Anya Hindmarch Spring/Summer 15 Bags Report

Anya Hindmarch is one cheeky woman with many tricks up her sleeve. One could only imagine how she’s going to top her very successful Autumn/Winter 14 “Counter Culture” collection (that’s currently being sold in stores) featuring bags with Kellogg’s mascots, Bourbon biscuits and washing powder, which, I still believe, is a poke at our society that has become preoccupied with consumption. She upped the ante once again, with her recent Spring/Summer 15 catwalk show that brought London Fashion Week to a stupendous close!

Anya’s SS15 runway set consisted of a spotted runway and backdrop, with spinning teacups as centrepieces, models carrying foil balloons, and even glow-in-the-dark skeletons making an appearance. In short, it felt as if the designer transported us on an exhilarating funfair that left us rather breathless in trippy haze-induced psychedelia (hey, the neon and glow-in-the-dark bags probably contributed to this).

The SS15 bags ranged from Artsy paint-splattered motifs in luminous neon shades, and guess what, some bags even come with customisable stickers and cutesy slogans like “Bags have feelings too” and “I’m Stuck on You”.

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E?

According to Anya, “SS15 was inspired by the idea of taking stickers that were my schoolgirl version of “personalisation” but making them beautifully and handcrafted in leather. My idea was that you can “sticker up” your handbag or phone or notebook and make it into your own personal artwork or buy bags that already have sticker designs worked into the leather.  … I love the combination of a grown up snakeskin handbag smothered in leather stickers.”

Well, I wouldn’t mind the neon but the sticker bags are too “back to school” for me. Would YOU be sporting these bags come SS15?
