#LFW: Anya Hindmarch Autumn Winter 16 Runway & Bags Report

Anya Hindmarch is always one of the shows that I look forward to during London Fashion Week, simply because we never know what quirky and fun thing she’ll be pulling out next from her magical hat! The Autumn/Winter 16 show space was made completely of white grids. As soon as the show began, the grids lit up in several colours, with some blocks moving from the walls to form multicoloured columns across the stage during the runway show. Together with the digital bleeping soundtrack and the 80s video games theme, we soon realised that the grids were made to resemble coloured pixels.

The Pac Man ghost and Space Invaders were the games Anya chose as her focus for the AW16 collection. These characters came in several variations: fur, bejeweled, beaded, leather patchwork, and shearling that were found on clasps, bag straps, outerwear, and as charms. To go with the pixel theme, there were multicoloured pixel patchwork leather motifs on the bags and outerwear, and a Rubik’s cube bag charm. Bomb and egg motifs were also thrown into the mix, and of course, the googly eyes, which are a carry-over from Anya’s current collections.

An interesting take on Lizard leather with the pixelated print!
My favourite bag from the entire AW16 collection!

Super quirky, and being an 80s baby myself, it’s definitely a collection I can relate to!
