A History of Past YSL Manifesto Totes

Since Fall/Winter of 2008-2009, YSL has introduced what they have called the YSL Manifesto. Made to look like a broadsheet newspaper, the YSL Manifesto features the season’s Ad Campaigns in full colour, which comes in a cotton tote, designed by YSL’s creative director, Stefano Pilati. However, the Manifesto, as well as the tote that it comes in, is extremely difficult to obtain as between 2000 to 5000 of these were printed and distributed on the streets of Fashion Capitals like New York, London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, and most recently, Berlin.

Check out the totes from each season below.

This year’s Pixelated Manifesto Tote Spring/Summer 2010 featuring Natalia Vodianova, marks the sixth edition of the Manifesto project.

From now onwards, YSL will be spreading its manifesto project worldwide, and add a new city each season. Is it wishful thinking on my part if I hope that they’ll add Kuala Lumpur on that list soon? Maybe if pigs could fly…
