Valentino Garavani Roman Stud Top Handle Bag
Valentino first introduced the new Roman Stud in a flap bag style as part of their Diary Collection for Resort 2021, and due to its popularity, these larger sized maxi studs, a tribute to the bugnato – large square cut stones used as facing on brick or stone rubble walls – of the Roman palazzos, are now a mainstay at the Maison. What an apt reinterpretation this is indeed, and a great way to change things up for the Rockstud’s 10th Anniversary.
For Spring/Summer 2021, Valentino has expanded the Roman Stud family with the addition of a top handle silhouette. Like the shoulder bag that was introduced in the previous season, this Top Handle is also made of soft nappa leather, with each of the 28 studs (all of which are applied individually by hand) positioned on the macro quilting where each of the corners intersect, with each bag taking 5 hours and over a metre of leather, to craft and complete. The result of the macro quilting is a cloud-like, squishy, pillow-esque bag, which comes with a detachable leather strap, and a sliding chain in antique brass finishing for that little bit of old world charm meets rocker chic.
