Prada: Transparency in Times of Recession?

The Verdict: I’m a hardcore Prada fan. But I have to say that Miuccia never fails to disappoint me, but being a diehard fan, I remain hopeful. This S/S 2010, it seems as if the recession has affected her choice of materials. I don’t know about you, my fellow BagAddicts out there, but I think that those bags in beige and ecru canvas seems as if the bags are constructed out of leftover potato sacks (albeit a much smoother and less scratchy version). BUT… that’s not half as bad as the PVC and Beige canvas combo. I mean, not only are the combination of materials awful but the way in which it is pieced together looks as if it was assembled by a homeless person instead of fashion doyenne, Miuccia Prada herself. And what’s up with the silver crystal embellishments? In S/S 2009 it was OTT bling, and for F/W 2009, we saw excessive usage of studs on Prada bags. This season, it seems as if silver crystal embellishments are the victims! I’m starting to wonder if Miuccia’s mantra is “when in doubt, embellish”.
