Bottega Veneta Creative Director Tomas Maier surprised us all with the Fall/Winter 15 collection. The softer feminine dancerly silhouettes and materials such as tulle, organza, silk and satin that we have become so accustomed to at BV have been replaced with boxier, more tailored masculine shapes for FW15 where pants dominated. And it also seems that Maier has gone dotty – streams of full polka-dotted looks came down the runway, along with oversized check motifs on wool outerwear (which I love!) But what I adored most was the colour palette in myriad vibrant hues such as Irish green, Canard Teal, Lustrous Yellow, Russet Rust, Arizona Red, Persimmon Orange, Byzantine Violet and some paler colours such as petal pink, camel, and mist.

Tomas Maier comments that the collection “is not about meticulous dressing, but taking a bit of a bolder approach when it comes to pattern and colour. The collection explores the possibilities of beautifully made clothes that express your own individual creativity”.

The newly-introduced Monaco bag that we first saw on the Men’s runway, is also now the focus of the Women’s FW15 collection. And, as with the RTW, the striking colour palette also applies to the bags. My favourites, however, are the shoulder bags in that luscious green!
