FENDI’s New Peekaboo X-Lite
2018 marks the 10th Anniversary of FENDI‘s Peekaboo bag. You’ve probably seen the #MeAndMyPeekaboo campaign, the latest of which, starring Kim Kardashian, North West, and Kris Jenner. In addition to this, the House has introduced a new member of the Peekaboo family – the Peekaboo X-Lite – to celebrate this milestone.
Making its runway debut during the recent Fall/Winter 18 show at Milan Fashion Week in February, the Peekaboo X-Lite is a slouchier version of the original Peekaboo. This more supple and almost hobo-esque silhouette is achieved by “deconstructing”, or rather, the doing away with the central bar and middle frame of the original bag – the design element that gives the Peekaboo its structured shape, which incidentally, also contributed to the weight of the bag. Yup, with this removed, it also means that the bag is now super light, hence its namesake, the Peekaboo X-Lite.
As with most hobo bags, it’s all about the “slouch”, and in order to achieve this, FENDI has reworked this new Peekaboo X-Lite by using the softest and smoothest leathers on both the inside and outside of the bag that’s finished off with hand-painted sides. The iconic Peekaboo twist lock also has been revamped in what is known as a “bite” version, with an aerodynamic diamond-cut design as side details.
Available in natural hues such as black, moss green, brown, and beige, with the internal pocket in pastel, neutral tones, or the iconic FF logo jacquard for that striking colour contrast, the the FF logo is also used as embellishments on the shearling-lined interior for the more precious variations.
The new Peekaboo X-Lite drops in FENDI boutiques globally and on the official website from this Monday (August 20th) onwards.
