Trend Report: Stackable Bags By Gucci and Anya Hindmarch

We first saw the idea of stackable bags on one of the designer’s runways circa 2015/2016. I can’t really remember now which designer was doing that then, but judging from the Fall/Winter 2017 runways, stackable bags seem to be an upcoming trend. Okay, perhaps I should label it as a trend as yet, because in order for something to be considered as a trend, it needs to be both endorsed by the fashion industry as such, and relatively popular with consumers. But, because we don’t know how well they’ll be received, I shall just refer to the idea of stackable bags as something a couple of brands seemed to be doing for the upcoming Fall/Winter 17 season.

So, stackable bags. I’m not sure how it is for Anya Hindmarch’s version, but for Gucci, these bags are actually sold separately so that the wearer has the option of mixing and matching, and attaching however many bags she’d like. I guess this idea of stackable bags is well, okay, of course to push more products, but at the same time, it’s probably an “upgrade” and a step up from the decorative bag straps that was THE highlight last year as well as the first half of this year, in terms of accessorising your bags.  But, given that I’m vertically challenged (read: short) I don’t think this trend is for me. Also, I don’t like the idea of the visible hooks dangling at the bottom of the bags and between the bags.

What about you? Is this a trend that you see yourself buying into?
