If there’s one thing Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director Tomas Maier is known for, it’s delving into the  archives, giving that his own reinterpretation, and breathing new life into them. For the Fall/Winter 16 collection, Creative Director Tomas Maier went for the string tie detail, an iconic Bottega style from 1971. This season, there is focus on exotic skins, particular crocodile and nappa leather. Smaller silhouettes also seem to be the style du jour for FW16. For the first time, Maier introduces shiny calf leather. Along with a more intense colour palette, the attention to detail this season comes in the form of geometric needle-punched patterns in velvet for that matte sequin-like effect when spotted from afar. Exotic leathers in contrasting colours were also been overlaid to created that textured three-dimensional racing stripe design for that slightly sportier (but no less luxe!) vibe.
