Gucci’s Padlock Shoulder Bag

Gucci’s new Creative Director Alessandro Michele carries over a few elements from his debut Fall/Winter 15 collection over to the Padlock shoulder bag for Cruise 2016. Of course, my ultimate favourite is, surprise surprise, the version in the Blooms print on GG Supreme coated jacquard, but we also see the bee and tiger appliqué variety in this style.
The antiqued hardware takes the form of a key-secured padlock clasp reminiscent is typical of that found on old-school briefcases, and the chunky chain strap lend a certain old world charm to the overall aesthetic. What’s more, small this bag may be, but it sure is versatile. Not only can it be worn on the shoulder, but all you have to do is shorten the strap and voila! it converts into a small top handle bag.

And then we have the other version in the highly polished gold hardware, which gives off a more luxurious feel. Crackled metallic gold leather is great for cocktails and dinner parties, not to mention for New Year’s too!, while for a more daytime look, bi-coloured leather against the GG Supreme fabric would be just fine 🙂

Though I ain’t usually a fan of structured shoulder flap bags, my prediction is that the Padlock bag is going to be one of Gucci’s latest classic staples. Now, which is your fave?
