Gucci 1955 Horsebit Bag

Alessandro Michele revisits the Gucci archives to bring us an updated iteration of the 1955 Horsebit bag as part of the Cruise 2020 collection. Keeping the House’s equestrian history alive, Michele retains the horsebit detail (which is also found on the side of the bag) and silhouette just like when it was first introduced over 6 decades ago. What’s new is its interior, with plenty of compartments for you to organise your belongings. The creative director also designed a new sophisticated mechanism for adjusting the length of the leather shoulder strap, which you can lengthen and shorten at will, depending on whether you’d like to wear it crossbody, or on the shoulder. This structured shoulder style is available in GG Supreme, plain leather, or a special blue version with a blue-red-blue velvet web stripe on the flap.

Apart from the classic shoulder style, it also comes in the form of a bucket bag with drawstring closure, as we saw on the Cruise 2020 runway, and even as a soft messenger bag also with drawstring leather laces on top of the bag, with a concealed magnetic clasp. But, if you prefer a luxed up version of these bags, exotic skin versions, too, are available.

Well, vintage vibin’ this may be, but ya’ know as they say, old is gold.
