Fashion Week (Milan): Gucci F/W 2010
The Verdict: Gucci goes minimalist this F/W 2010 season with its clean lines, and classicism in terms of the shapes of the bags and the more sophisticated looking GG logo that replaces the the Guccisima monograms whether on canvas or embossed. Giannini seems to be aiming at a more mature market, with boxy styles in exotic leathers like ostrich and croc, that send out a more vintage vibe. All I can say is that I guess Gucci seems to be going down the mature route. Definitely a collection for ladies that belong to the Old Money social circle (except maybe for the flat flap clutches which have a more youthful appeal). Giannini’s colour palette, too, seems rather dull in comparison to other designers’ use of colour for the F/W season, which imho, is intentional so as to bring out the more mature, classic and vintage vibe that this collection seems to be suggesting.
