Dior’s 30 Montaigne Bag
30 Avenue Montaigne: the historic legendary address where Monsieur Christian Dior set up his first ever Dior boutique on 16 December 1946, ahead of the Maison’s first ever runway presentation. Fast forward to 2019, and there it is, the boutique still standing at the very same spot since its opening, the beating heart and the very essence of Dior itself. So, it really isn’t surprising that Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri chose to pay homage to the Maison, by naming a bag (as well as an entire line of iconic pieces) after where it all began.
Launched globally on May 10th, the 30 Montaigne Bag‘s distinctive feature is its oversized stylised CD clasp with 30 Montaigne embossed onto its back. This boxy shoulder bag with an adjustable shoulder strap is super roomy on the inside, with organisational pockets as well as a zippered compartment. Available only in one size, the bag comes in either blue or burgundy Dior Oblique canvas, or full leather, in an array of colours like Black, Orange, Rose (think dusky pink), light teal, white, black, burgundy, and mustard.
Now, here’s a look a the painstaking effort that went into the creation of this brand new Dior beauty.
The connection we develop to a place can be extremely powerful. I felt it right away when I stepped inside 30 Avenue Montaigne, the House’s historic birthplace. I thought about creating a new line that would reflect the identity of the House and, at the same time, offer women the opportunity to create a «My Dior» allure in harmony with their lifestyle ~ Maria Grazia Chiuri ~
