Chanel’s Gabrielle Bag: A New Classic
Karl has dubbed 2017 as the year of Gabrielle, and because of this, he has launched a new handbag named after the Chanel founder, whom we have come to affectionately know, as Coco. I’m sure you’ve seen the teaser photos and videos surrounding the upcoming Gabrielle bag campaign starring Cara Delevingne, Kirsten Stewart, Caroline de Maigret, and yes, even Pharrell Williams, which will break on April 3. So, ahead of the campaign’s release, let me introduce you to the latest Gabrielle bag.
As a tribute to founder Gabrielle, it is no surprise that the bag’s design incorporates the Maison’s signature House codes. This supple hobo bag comes in 3 sizes (small, regular, and large), and sports a double leather-interlaced chain link strap, quilted Aged Calfskin which gives it a distressed leather vibe, the interlocking C detail on the zipper, and its bi-colour offerings, along with solid colours like black or white. The adjustable strap allows it to be worn over the shoulder, cross body, or even both ways at once, thanks to the other chain strap that you see facing inwards, behind the bag. And because this is a homage to Coco, it’s safe to assume that this is not at all a seasonal style, but in fact an addition to the Classic range of Chanel bags, because, hey, we’ve already seen it on the Fall/Winter 17 runway in iridescent leather, haven’t we? 😉
Stay tuned for the teaser videos of the campaign that I’ll be posting here on Saturday, ahead of the official campaign release on April 3!
