The Volon FW18 Data Alice Bag

If you’re an avid street style stalker, you’ve probably seen these bags on über-influencers like Aimee Song or Yoyo Cao. These boxy bags are by Korean label The Volona fairly new brand that was found just over 3 years ago, which takes inspiration from architectural shapes. This structured satchel-esque Data Alice Bag, has since become one of the brand’s classic styles, making an appearance in every seasonal collection thus far. For Fall/Winter 18the Data Alice comes in the most darling combination of colours; colours which, in isolation seem as if they wouldn’t make a great combo. Yet, somehow when they’re all put together in this sort of colour-blocked manner, work really well, and unexpectedly so!

I’m not usually a fan of top handle bags because I find it super annoying if you have your arm through the handle and when you try to retrieve something from inside, the bag sorta falls forward while just hanging by its handle, with the entire contents of your bag for the entire world to see. But, there’s just something about this bag, that seems to make me want to make it the exception to the rule, because I’m THAT in love with it. I know you’re probably thinking it’s the combination of colours in this case, because I love my colour blocks and my pops of colour, but I don’t think this is really the reason because I’ve found myself drawn to this particular Data Alice bag even when the colours from their past collections aren’t as vibrant. I’ve come to realise that it’s probably the subtle heart shapes on the flap, along with the perforated brougue-like details that sent my heart aflutter. I missed out on getting this version  from the Spring/Summer 18 collection, and now, perhaps I should just go ahead and bite the bullet and get this one from FW18 instead! Hmm…Decisions, decisions.
