Runner-up of CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2006, Thai-American designer Thakoon Panichgul catapulted to fame after being hand-picked by Anna Wintour after his collaboration with Gap as one of America’s young emerging designers (in which Doo-Ri and design duo Rodarte were also a part of) in 2007.

That, coupled with First Lady Michelle Obama’s penchant for Asian designers’ creations, launched the careers of many who have since become household names: Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, and yes, Thakoon included.

This Spring, Thakoon debuts his line of leather goods, comprising mainly of satchels.
