Salvatore Ferragamo’s Cage Bag for Spring/Summer 22

Salvatore Ferragamo has introduced The Cage Bag, their must have bag for Spring/Summer 2022! A play on the traditional bucket bag, the exterior of the bag, made to look like an outer cage with geometric stud details and a soft leather drawstring pouch inside, is crafted from smooth Italian calf leather. With a short knotted top handle (our favourite design element on this bag), the bag also comes with a detachable long shoulder strap, should you want to wear it crossbody style. Its silhouette aside, what’s even more unique about the Cage is its construction, which requires the work of skilled artisans. The bag is constructed without seams, assembled with the use of just rivets alone – the leather strips of the outer cage are put together in a specific sequence that makes the bucket self-supporting, even when free standing, even when it’s without the inner drawstring pouch.

And speaking of the interior drawstring pouch ( which was inspired by the House’s Kimo sandal created by the founder in 1951 with its upper in woven leather with an interchangeable leather or silk sock), it too, can be changed up and swapped at will. Yep, these drawstring pouches are also sold separately, in both leather and silk in solid colours as well prints, should you want to mix and match or change the look and vibe of your bag to go with your outfit, or simply just because you’re fans of colour blocking like us!

Available in one size only, colourways include black with golden studs and a black leather pouch for that classic vibe (photo above), or in seasonal colours like Tyrone Turquoise, and Candy Apple, black with multicoloured studs or Saddle Brown with gold studs with the inner pouches in natural fabric, or even Optical White with its hardware also in white for a mono coloured look.

Let me tell you this: it’s not often that we love all the colourways for any bag, but we absolutely love every single one of these, so we’re hard-pressed to pick just one as our favourite!
