Resort 2012: Chloe Bags

Hannah MacGibbon’s reign at Chloe has officially ended. Chloe is in between designers at the moment, and because Clare Waight Keller will only officially debut as creative director of Chloe in October with the label’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection in October, this Resort 2012 collection was designed by the in-house design team.
From the RTW to the bags, most of them seem to be reworked ideas from the Chloe archives rather than something fresh. In terms of shape, the focus this time around seem to revolve around box clutches. In terms of choice of materials, we see some Nylon pieces. Interestingly enough, nylon is a material that Chloe hardly ever uses for their bags and leather goods, but seem to appear in this Resort 2012 collection. The result? A sporty look reminiscent of Prada’s creations. The Boston bags that MacGibbon debuted for Spring/Summer 2011 also spills over into the Resort collection.
Oh, and bag talk aside, the use of just one model (Jacquelyn Jablonski) to showcase Chloe’s entire collection, it feels almost as if we’re looking at an ad campaign and/or lookbook.
