Prada’s S/S 2012 Car Clutches are All Kinds of Wonderful!
If you’re a regular reader, you might have remembered me saying that I haven’t liked Prada’s runway collection for a long time. Well, that all changed with the Spring/Summer 2012 collection because it was all kinds of AMAZING!
Since I saw them on the Prada runway in September, I’ve been anxiously awaiting the arrival for these car-themed bags and clutches to hit the stores. Fast forward 5 months later and Spring was here. So off I went happily traipsing into the Prada store to have a look at these quirky babies. Needless to say, I was mighty disappointed when they told me that the clutches that you saw in my MFW runway review (click link above), the Saffiano car clutches and frame clutches with the cut-out holes for handles were runway pieces, and therefore, custom made-to-order pieces. Same goes with the runway shoes with the flames and “tail light” details. Boo. I don’t know how it is over in Europe, but on our shores, they weren’t available. Zilch. Nada.
So the SA showed me these nappa clutches instead, which I quite liked, but found it too pochette-like and not nearly as clutch-like enough for me to be blowing a couple of thousand MYR on. Plus, it’ll scratch way too easily anyway.
When I popped into the Prada store, only this flame clutch was available, but in black instead of off-white/cream as pictured below.

Now as for this particular design of the lady’s lips with cigarette wedged between, they have this design on the shoes too. Needless to say, I’m not a fan because well, I am not a fan of smoking. In fact, I’m rather put off by it. I have friends who smoke, but don’t particularly like it when they smoke in front of me. Yes, huge pet peeve, but it’s not like I love my smoking friends any less, and they know it. 😉 Okay enough of the ranting, lol.
Next up, and also from the S/S 2012 collection, I absolutely ADORE the bow-detailed clutch-cum-wristlet. I know what some of you might be thinking — ” huh? bow?” Yes, my thoughts exactly. When I first saw it, the first thing that came to mind, was “oh look it’s a sideways-looking necktie clutch, how cute!” Only after I stared at it a little longer, did I make the connection between this season’s Prada bow heels (insanely gorgeous! Too bad I can’t wear heels properly! haha) and this detail. I promise you, it’s much cuter in real life, and the saffiano patent leather gives it a much needed glossy finish! LOVE! Though I don’t think they have the clutch available in KL, you really should check out the bow heels in mint!
