#PFW: Valentino Fall/Winter 15 Bags Report

The Valentino Fall/Winter 15 runway show opened with a predominantly black-and-white colour palette in an array of bold stripes, checkerboard motif  normcore-esque separates. And of course, there were the designers’ signature organza pieces with fairytale-like embroidery. For inspiration, Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccoli looked to artists Emilie Flöge and Celia Birtwell. The gowns were, as per usual, exquisite! Once the final model walked, the audience was surprised to see Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as their Zoolander 2 characters walk the catwalk, taking off their jackets and leaving them on the runway on the walk back. Only after that, the models did the final walkthrough.

Valentino’s FW 15 bags were mostly a combination of black-and-white. While I was slightly disappointed that there weren’t any rockstuds coming down the runway (I know some of you have mentioned that you’re sick of them, but I still love them, even more so in fact!), I quite liked the bicolour flap clutches, and of course, the striped bags – in case you didn’t already know, stripes are another weakness of mine, even on clothes! I was quite taken with the graphic evening minaudières and the intricate gold one that resembled a flower with the stamen popping out on an otherwise flat surface.
