#PFW: Chloé SS16 Runway and Bags Report
Claire Waight Keller presented a very distinct bohemian vibe with a very pretty Spring-like pastel colour palette for Chloé’s Spring/Summer 16 collection. There were lots of lace, off-the-shoulder peasant-like tops, dangly tassels embellishments, frayed denim, tracksuit separates that came with a thick stripe down the sides (think super-feminine Jane Lynch/Sue Sylvester from Glee that were sometimes paired with a feminine halter or off-the-shoulder top, and even a more feminine take on overalls (some even came as a skirt version). When it came to the accessories, shoes were mainly of the rainbow-coloured laceup sandal and slides variety, with necklaces that sort of reminded me of extra-long string ties.
According to Waight Keller, the SS16 collection was a tribute to the 90s, explaining that
This season’s collection is a tribute to girls named Kate, Chloé, Cecilia, Corinne, Rosemary, Emma, and Courtney, who embody the liberty and the elegance of a perfectly mastered and excessively lived simplicity. … There’s such a fast pace to fashion now; I think we’ve lost the innocence of the spirit of fashion, the youthful optimism that it portrays. And I think there’s something quite joyful about fashion that’s been missing
And now, on to the bags..
The bags were scaled down for SS16, as we saw an array of small bags coming down the runway. Either super structured or elongated shoulder bags that would look great when slung crossbody-style, these little bags with their tassels would certainly be festival appropriate. I have to say though, that they aren’t really my style. I much preferred the ready-to-wear looks and shoes. In fact, this is one of my favourite SS16 collections to date!
