#PFW: Chanel SS16 Runway and Bags Report

Chanel’s SS16 show invitation said “Chanel Airways”, and as expected, thanks to the huge clue on the invite, Karl Lagerfeld transformed Chanel’s Grand Palais show space into an airport terminal with a fictional name called Aeroport Paris Cambon. I can’t help but wonder if Karl is running out of ideas, with regards to the runway setup because the first thing that came to mind was the Chanel Cruise 2007-8 show held in an airplane hangar. Hmm…

To match this airport theme, there were sandals embellished with flashing runway landing-lights at the soles, cashmere sweaters, crystal-embellished tops and jackets, herringbone jackets, tracksuits separates with airplane, grid and geometric motifs. The colour palette was made up of the French Tricolore, bright watercolour-like hues, and some metallics thrown into the mix.

This Boy is My favourite piece in the collection!

As for the bags, the most distinct airport vibe came from the wheelie suitcases that the models brought with them down the runway, some stacked with other Chanel bags in such a way that it really resembles a traveller on-the-go. And then there was also the slightly bulky multi-pocket bag could be your perfect travel companion, especially if it’s an overnight trip. The cutest of all was the mini wheelie bag, with a retractable handle detail and all, that was worn cross-body.

In short, while I love the colour palette, this wasn’t a collection that blew my socks off.
