In today’s edition of Love It or Hate It, we present you Balenciaga‘s Opera Clutch.

Introduced as part of the Spring/Summer 19 collection, this suede semicircular bag comes with a metal top handle that’s completely wrapped and knotted with a silk scarf, leaving the free ends dangling for that bit of movement when you walk. While I love the pop of colour the fluorescent green scarf adds to an otherwise black bag, and see the logic in wrapping the handle up so the handle doesn’t leave marks on your arm, I have to say my verdict on this bag, is a firm “nay”. Truth be told, I really cannot wrap my head around why this little teensy bag is sold out almost everywhere, and unavailable in the local and most other Balenciaga boutiques globally.

To me, this Opera Clutch looks way too much like the Chloé Nile. #sorrynotsorry Unless… this is Demna Gvasalia’s tongue-in-cheek way of intentionally parodying the popularity of the Chloé and capitalising on it, then it’s #genius.
