Delvaux’s “Les Miniatures Belgitude” Limited Edition Collection
Stop what you’re doing right now, because Delvaux’s Les Miniatures Belgitude Limited Edition Collection has got me obsessed.
Each of these 7 miniature bags and yes, they’re super tiny versions of the classic Brilliant bag, each paying homage to a different Belgian “treasure. At 7 x 8.5 x 5cm they’re just slightly larger than the size of your palm, but don’t be fooled by its size, because they’re so intricate that they are made up of up to 185 different parts, while the original “normal”-sized Brilliant bag only has 64.
Three of them, Liege, Namur, and Ostende pay tribute to food: the traditional Belgian waffle served with traditional café liégeois, hot chips (which I thought were French fries at first, lol), and mussels, respectively. The Anvers, with its 77 studs are in the colours of the Belgian flag, and is a tribute to the avant-garde fashion designers from Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts; Knokke Le Zoute (my favourite one) features the artwork of the Belgian surrealist artist’s work of his blue sky and bowler hat; the motif on the Bruxelles is reminiscent of the iron-crystal structure, the Atomium, that was initially created for the Brussels World Fair in 1958; Gand, which features the quote ceci n’est pas un Delvaux is modelled after a Delvaux bag from 2008.
These miniature beauties are now available in select Delvaux boutiques globally. Ya’ll know by now that I have mad love for all things artsy fartsy and this cutesy collection of miniatures has got me lusting over not one, but almost ALL of them! These minis, are just way too cute, and not in a kitschy way at all. If I really had to choose my top faves, they’d definitely have to be the one with the bowler hat, and the waffle!!
