Hot off its Supreme New York collab, RIMOWA is back with yet another design partnership, this time, with OFF-WHITE. This young luxury streetwear label is no stranger of collabs, having partnered with a string of brands since its launch. Founder, and now Louis Vuitton’s menswear Artistic Director, Virgil Abloh has designed a transparent polycarbonate carry-on case for RIMOWA.

Accented with black handles, wheels, labelling on the locks and telescopic handle all bear the distinctive OFF-WHITE DNA, complete with the brand’s diagonal stripes logo on the luggage tag. The inspiration behind the transparent suitcase comes from the cultural obsession with privacy, anonymity, and surveillance. And, because of this, RIMOWA’s Essential model has no interior lining. Instead, it comes with the Flex-Divider system in black and several customised bags marked “MISCELLANEOUS”. Fitted with RIMOWA’s silent Multiwheel system and TSA combination locks, the bag also comes with an exclusive transparent amenity kit with an additional set of wheels in OFF-WHITE orange, as a true mark of a Special Edition luggage.

This collaboration was an experimentation where we studied travelling and one’s emotional connection to their own ‘personal belongings’. This Project had been in the works for a while and now the accumulation of various ideas from over a long period of time will be released to the world. I have an affinity for a brand as authentic and longstanding as Rimowa and I enjoyed the task of bringing new ideas to that equation ~ Virgil Abloh ~

You’ll see this suitcase for the first time next week, on June 20th during the OFF-WHITE’s men’s fashion show in Paris. Select friends of the brand will also be gifted personalised black aluminium cases with the OFF-WHITE style label “Personal Belongings”.
