Issey Miyake Dabbles With Wearable Art For The Latest 132.5 Tote Bag

Issey Miyake’s latest star- or pinwheel-shaped tote that resembles flattened-out Modular Origami, was inspired by computer engineer Jun Mitani, one of the developers of the brand’s Reality Lab, who, with his team, designed a special software to create the 132.5 Issey Miyake. And these aren’t just randomly numbers that are put together, but are instead embedded with meaning. The numbers signify 1 item, a 3-dimensional form derived from 2-dimensional shapes, which takes the bag into the 5th dimension when carried.

Though I’m not a fan of the tote, this is certainly a novel silhouette, and I’ll call this the Level Up version of the Bao Bao bags!
