Fashion Week (Paris): Hermes F/W 2010
The Verdict: Instead of Birkins, we see loads more Kellys on the runways for this upcoming F/W 2010 season. Apart from the usual runway pieces in exotic skins, this season also reminds me of Hermes’s 2008 F/W season, where we saw shearling-trimmed suede handwarmers on the runways. Instead of handwarmers, Jean Paul Gaultier has decided to convert that look into suede Kellys with shearling trims that akin to Ugg boots. I know that I can’t compare Ugg to Hermes, but that’s just what it reminds me of. That aside, I’m glad that JPG is aiming for younger target market with its latest studded birkin (which, imho, was the showstopper) that exude a more youthful Punk/Glam Rock sorta vibe. Predictably, the studded Birkin will definitely be one of the sought-after pieces by celebrities come F/W 2010. For a House that only does classics, Who knew that the studded Birkin could look so current? Me likey! 😉
