Gucci’s Jackie Special Display

Next month, Gucci  pays homage to the “Jackie” by hosting a private cocktail party to present the “Jackie Special Display”. This event is in celebration of one of the House Icons, the Jackie – a hobo bag that first debuted in the 1960s. It was nicknamed the “Jackie” after America’s First Lady at the time, Jacqueline Onassis, because it was seemed to be her favourite, photographed with different versions of the bag on numerous occasions throughout her lifetime.

Frida Giannini then decided to revive the Jackie on the Spring/Summer 2009 runway, and named the reissue, the “New Jackie” which requires a minimum of 7 to 13 hours to create. Long, oversized leather tassels with new bamboo details were new additions to the bag for a more updated appeal.

The event will be held at Gucci’s KLCC store in May,  and will feature vintage pieces of the Jackie from the Gucci Archives.  See you there!
