Gucci’s Cruise 2017 Bags Report
London’s Westminster Abbey was transformed into a fashion hub, thanks to Gucci’s Cruise 2017 runway show. This time around, the bags sported the animalistic motifs that have become characteristic of Creative Director Alessandro Michele since he took the helm at Gucci.
Of course, there was the bee and the red snake that we have all become familiar with by now, but this time around, he also included the tiger, a pair of dogs, and a red mythical-looking tiger, that is reminiscent of the ones (well, to me at least!) found in Chinese folklore on variations of existing bag silhouettes that have been updated here and there, most notably, the XL version of the New Jackie with a Dionysus clasp. A few floral pieces, too, were thrown into the primarily animal-themed bags that came down the runway. I have to say though, that I find some of the animal motifs rather intimidating, and frankly, quite scary because of how fierce they look. I guess you can call me a scaredy cat when it comes to these things!
