Grace Coddington Collaborates with Balenciaga on Limited Edition “Pumpkin” Collection for FNO
Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette might be the most popular feline on twitter, but it’s time to move over because she might just have been ousted by Pumpkin. And if you’re wondering who Pumpkin is, she’s Grace Coddington’s (Vogue‘s Creative Director) cat, and happens to be the star of Balenciaga’s Limited Edition accessories for Fashion’s Night Out.

Grace Coddington for Balenciaga: “Pumpkin” Papier Tote |
For Coddington’s collaboration with Balenciaga, she has immortalised her furry friend for FNO’s “Pumpkin” accessories consisting of 2 scarves (either in fringed wool – US$295, or silk -US$395) , and a tote which are all covered in illustrations by Coddington, of her cat, which seems to be dressed up in Balenciaga’s iconic pieces from past decade of the brand’s RTW line. Yes, you got that right. Balenciaga seems to have enlisted a specific cat, Pumpkin, to model their pieces. Think of it as a retrospective of sorts that you get in museums, just that instead of mannequins in the museum, the cat seems to be the supermodel, parading off Nicolas Ghesquire’s masterpieces for Balenciaga.

Since the bags are named after Pumpkin, is it any surprise, then, that the all the accessories are orange canvas, including Balenciaga’s Papier Tote, which I think, are a little too Halloween-like, no? Okay, so they’re also available in Ecru if orange isn’t your thing. While US$1,000 a pop might feel a little steep, especially for a canvas version of the Papier, but then again, it’s a Limited Edition collab by Grace Coddington for FNO, and you’re doing something charitable in the process because 20% of proceeds will go to the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons. I know what you’re thinking, and I’m as surprised as you are because I always thought that those Hamptons pets are all pampered silly.
Balenciaga x Grace Coddington’s “Pumpkin” line of accessories will debut on Fashion’s Night Out at the brand’s stores in Los Angeles and New York, where Coddington will be to introduce the collection.
While it’s true that dogs are certainly a (Wo)Man’s Best Friend, cats seem to be the pets du jour because Feline Frenzy has taken over the fashion sphere!
