Givenchy’s GV3 Bag

The “Drew”, “Faye”, and more recently, the “Nile”. These were all hit bags designed by Clare Waight Keller during her reign at Chloé, which proved that she had a certain knack for designing bags that became wildly popular, particularly with the fashion glitterati. Now, that she’s moved over to Givenchy, let me introduce you to her first handbag for the Maison, the GV3.

So, why’s it called the “GV3”? At first, I thought its namesake was a rather cute tongue-in-cheek play on “Givenchy”. But, the combination of the alphabets and the number “3”, actually have greater significance than simple word play. The bag actually takes its name from the Maison’s historic store address on 3, Avenue George V. Quite a clever way of incorporating a little bit of history to kickstart her new tenure at Givenchy, don’t you think?

Givenchy GV3 Bag Size Comparison
Size Comparison: Medium, Small, Mini, Nano

The GV3 is a pretty versatile rectangular bag, which can be worn in several ways: on the shoulder with its slightly chunky gold chain strap; as a crossbody when you snap on the detachable shoulder strap (the gold chain strap becomes an ornamental embellishment when worn this way); on the arm; and as a clutch. Available in 4 sizes – nano, mini, small, and medium – it may sound as if they’re all pretty petite, but with its triple-compartments (2 on the inside, and one patch pocket on the outside) they’re actually quite roomy. Oh and the nano size has belt loops attached at the back so you can actually wear it as a waistpouch. I have to say, though, that this bag isn’t really my style, though when I posted it on my Instastories last week, 63% of you voted for “Team Yay” so I guess I’m belong to the minority who only feels lukewarm towards this bag right here.
