Paris Fashion Week: Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2011

The Verdict: Marc Jacobs revives one of Vuitton’s past icons (the Lockit) for Fall/Winter 2011. The first time the Lockit from 1958 was resurrected from the Vuitton archives was approximately 5 or 6 years ago, and was made available for a year or so. This marks the second revival of the Lockit, as MJ reinterprets the bag in a variety of materials: in monogram canvas (which has been given a glossy overlay this season – which imho, makes it look rather cheap, and akin to a knockoff), fleece/wool, canvas, bi-toned leathers, and exotic skins.

As they made their way down the Louis Vuitton F/W 2011 runway, we saw them in myriad shapes and sizes. From clutches that were handcuffed to the models wrists to horizontal versions of the bag, and mini to oversized — it was certainly a Lockit-populated runway indeed. As you all know by now, I am certainly not a fan of Vuitton, logos or monograms, but I actually like the bi-toned Lockit in grey with black trims.
