Event Post: Dior Fall/Winter 2014 Regional Press Day

Dior held its first ever Regional Press Day here in KL at Publika’s White Box, where fashion media peeps from all over the Asian region (Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, amongst others) got to preview the Fall/Winter 2014 collection for Women’s and Men’s Ready-to-Wear, and yes, even Baby Dior!

Upon entry into the venue, hot male models flanked either side of the plush grey carpeting (yes, at Dior, the carpets that are rolled out are grey instead of the usual red), and in true Dior fashion, were Dior sofas, with coffee table books on the brand and its heritage. Right above it, there was also an LCD display with the Fall/Winter 2014 runway show playing.

Immediately to the left, was the Baby Dior collection. Okay, so I’ve never been fond of kids ever, but seeing the kids collection made me want to pop out baby girls (cos they’re more fun to dress up) instantly. An InstaBaby, if you will, lol. I did all I could to try not to squeal, and did it silently on the inside instead, haha.

Those glitter shoes! I wish they made adult versions!

Love the loafers!

And then, moving on to the room that housed the Women’s FW14 Ready-to-Wear collection. Now, if you remember, the collection was called “City Lights”. And according to Creative Director Raf Simons, he “wanted to propose a new woman… A woman with power and energy in a very definite way. … powerful tailoring, to offer another reality, another function. … the reality of the urban world and environment, not just the leisured world of ‘the moment’ – that world of the event or the party. The Dior woman inhabits both”.

The collection utilised masculine fabrics that were softened and feminised by bold, graphic colours.

The shoes, too, were a testament to this masculine/feminine vibe – sneakers were embellished and glammed up while heels were given a running rubber sole.

Look closely at The choker and cuff and you’d see nude men details!
Love these multi finger rings!

And now, the BAGS!

Let me introduce the New Lady Dior to you, which I’m absolutely in love with. Yes, I know the Lady Dior with the Cannage quilting is a classic piece, but I prefer this version. And no, in the image you see below, it isn’t 2 different bags, but the same bag. The one with the hanging D-I-O-R charms and pastel pink pocket with a padlock is the front of the bag, while the back of the bag sports an outer envelope pocket. Aren’t these such refreshing colours for the bleak and dreary Winter season?

This colour is TO DIE FOR!  Such an unusual shade of lilac!

The new Wristlet/Clutch which I also WANT.

And now, the new Be Dior top handle flap bag.

Now if you recall, this was THE bag I was raving about in my FW14 Runway Review, and let me tell you that it’s even better in the flesh!

And for evening, this jewel-embellished floral clutch as seen on the runway.

Let’s just say that I’ve never been this smitten by Dior for a loooong time. Now, almost every bag I saw is going onto my wishlist!
Last but certainly not the least, the men’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection.

The Lily of the Valley served as the main inspiration behind Dior Homme’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection. Often seen on the breast pocket on the jackets and coats that Monsieur Dior himself wore, the flower takes on many forms for FW14: hand embroidered, machine stitched motifs, and even on the silver brooches. Polka dot and heart motifs, too, reign at Dior Homme this season.

My favourite piece from the collection!

Interesting combo of thin and thick pinstripes on the same pair of trousers
Collar pins featuring the lucky star, Dior in calligraphic font, and the Lily of the Valley brooches

Men’s ties

This is actually an actual chain (not a chain stitch!) that’s been sewn onto the shoe!

Special thanks to Dior for having me at your first ever Regional Press Day in KL!
Please note that Dior Homme and Baby Dior aren’t available in KL. Your nearest point of purchase would be Singapore and Thailand.
