Event Post: Anya Hindmarch Spring/Summer 2012 Presentation

On Leap Day, Anya Hindmarch held their Spring/Summer 2012 Presentation (complete with runway show) at KL Hilton so that their VIP customers could browse and preview the entire collection yesterday afternoon. And as you might already have guessed, I was one of the attendees at the event. Set to begin at 3pm, I only managed to arrived the venue at just a few minutes to half-past. Thankfully, the event hadn’t begun because most guests were late due to the heavy downpour and of course, the traffic that came along with the rain.

After registration, guests were kept busy at the showroom set up, and within, the entire SS12 collection.

This was the first bag that greeted us upon entry into the showroom venue. A strategic decision I’m sure, for what could be more eye-catching and attention-grabbing than a “handbag from outer space?”

Like the outer space bag, here are more canvas bags that are perfect for the beach or the gym! Inspired by newspapers and their captions, Anya has definitely shown us that famous dry humour Brits are known for with these quirky and witty captions.

We know that Queen Elizabeth II loves her Corgis and this was my favourite out of all the newspaper inspired bags!

Continuing with her labelled bags and “loose pockets” this season, here are the canvas bags:

And here we have the new version of Eco bags that when folded, fits into that pouch you see hanging on the strap. This eco line of bags (available in various other colours) don’t come at all as a surprise because we have to remember, that it was Anya Hindmarch that actually pioneered the Eco bag trend with her “I’m Not a Plastic Bag” before other design houses like Prada (with their eco-line of BYO bags) all followed suit and jumped on the environmentally friendly bandwagon.  I have to say though, that I’m Not such a fan of the eco bag, but I LOVE the pouch!

The canvas bag that I ALMOST bought while holidaying in Hong Kong at the beginning of the year.

Okay, I just died and went to handbag heaven when I saw these colour-block Nevis bags! In fact, I love them so much, that it’s going to get an entire blog post dedicated to it once my Fashion Week coverage ends. The only downside to this bag is that it didn’t come in a smaller size, because if it did, I would have definitely come home with this given my penchant for all things bright and colour-blocked!

And the other variants of the Nevis, in Rubber (with leather handles), or well, to most of us, it’s also known as jelly.

And here, we have the STAR of the Spring/Summer 2012 collection: The Bruton, that was inspired by “Lost and Found” Objects, particularly a very worn and battered Doctor’s bag. Love this colour combo! Too bad it would dirty too easily. Although it’s available in patent leather (and in a larger size) as well as in Black + beige combo, the white still looks best!

And for the evening, Anya continues her fascination with glitter bags that debuted in her Fall/Winter 2011-12 collection, but this time in the form of minaudières in quirky shapes like an apple and a heart. Very Judith Leiber but at a fraction of the price in comparison to a Leiber minaudière.

And when I posted this photo on my Instagram and Twitter while at the event, one of my Twitter followers (who is also a regular commenter with regards to my tweets and blog posts) @CarolinaOligaro actually said something which I hadn’t previously thought of, but thought that it was so apt after she said it: “ohhhhh!! It is a dreamy bag…Also Snow White would love it!” Indeed she will! ;D

Soon after I was done taking photos and browsing the showroom, we were all asked to be seated at the venue (the ballroom) where we could enjoy Afternoon Tea during the fashion show.

Once all guests were seated, and were done nibbling on the delectable sweets on our table, we were served our main course for the afternoon (the 2nd item on the menu above), the Fashion Show kicked off. Note that images below have been selected because they’re my favorites.

And there you have it! I sure had an eventful Leap Day! How was YOUR Leap Day? And Did you spot anything that you liked? If you did, which bags were they? I’d love to hear from you!
