Chopard has collaborated with Chloë Sevigny to design a Green Carpet Collection evening bag which made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

Chloë is a global style icon. When I heard that Chloë also has a real interest for sustainability, I knew she would be the perfect person to collaborate with to design a special evening bag for Chopard. True luxury is knowing the story behind the pieces we wear, and I am thrilled that Chloë shares this mindset and has joined us on our Journey to Sustainable Luxury. ~ Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard ~

So, what’s the “Green Carpet”?

Well, basically, Chopard has announced its “The Journey to Sustainable Luxury” initiative in 2012, making it the first ever luxury jewellery and watch Maison who had a commitment to using gold that was only 100% ethically sourced. At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Chopard had announced its expansion to include responsibly-sourced leather for its accessories, starting with this boxy leather evening bag with a heart motif, designed in collaboration with Chloë Sevigny, inspired by iconic images of the 1940s. Ethically-sourced leather was made possible by working together with suppliers that adhere to the Eco-Age Principles for Sustainable Excellence to ensure responsible management of waste, water, and energy and the utilisation of natural latex and vegetable tanned leather waste.

I love collaborating with brands who aren’t afraid to do things differently. The jewellery industry is known for its environmental and social challenges, but Chopard is committed to doing business in a better way and has proven that it can be done. I was inspired by all of their incredible work as part of The Journey to Sustainable Luxury and my design actually came from the theme of LOVE- for people and planet.
