Louis Vuitton Trunk Clutch

By now, ya’ll probably already know that I’m a MASSIVE Louis Vuitton Petite Malle fan. So, when I saw this on the runway, I was a little perplexed, because it seemed as if Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière had made a slightly bigger, less structured, version of the mini trunk. I mean, I couldn’t really have known for sure because the models were walking way fast anyway.

Alas, it has been revealed, that it isn’t actually a Petite Malle that I saw on the Prefall 18 runway, but in fact, a clutch that has been modelled after my most favourite bag ever. Called the Trunk Clutchit’s slightly larger, and also has softer, slightly folded in sides. The fact that it’s less structured also makes it lighter in comparison.

Though logomania is “in” right now, I still prefer the Red Epi version (top pic) instead of this one, in monogram canvas. Also, despite looking very similar to the Petite Malle, I still prefer the original because the boxy looks way better, given that it’s supposed to be a trunk of sorts. I guess what really irks me is that slight curve on the top of this Trunk Clutch. That said, due to its more accessible price point and roomier size, I predict that this is going to be a waitlisted item pretty soon. Oh, and if you’re not a fan of either of these, it’s also available in white, or black, and rose Epi leather.
