Creative Director Daniel Lee is really turning things around for Bottega Veneta. First, he introduced the Maxi Intrecciato weave, and several new silhouettes like The Pouch (my fav!) and then Arco. For the PreFall 2019 season, he has introduced yet another unique shape known as The Drop which is his take on the bucket bag.

I know that for almost everyone, the first thing that comes to mind when we hear “bucket bag”, is probably either one with a drawstring closure, or a structured bag with a circular base. Well, not in this case. Lee has changed things up by making his version slouchy, with an oversized closure that takes inspiration from a single link of a gourmette chain from the House’s jewellery that he designed for the season. It’s this closure, that’s also the distinctive feature of the bag. So, how exactly does the closure work? All you have to do is insert the long leather loop through the link. Thanks to its length, The Drop can also be worn on the shoulder, or if you prefer, you can have it dangling off your wrist.

The Drop is available in either supple matte nappa leather, or silky hair calf for a more luxurious vibe.
