Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer Capsule Collection

Louis Vuitton
is back with yet another artist collaboration! Amongst the previous collabs, my favourites would have to be the ones with Yayoi Kusama, and of especially the graffiti bags by Stephen Sprouse, including the graffiti painted “Louis Vuitton” collection from 2001. This time around, the Maison has partnered with Swiss contemporary visual Artist Urs Fischer on a Capsule Collection comprising bags, ready-to-wear, and accessories that’s bold and graphic.

Fischer has reinterpreted the monogram LV motif in an oversized manner that’s kinda slanted and not quite as symmetrical, giving it an artsy twist. He calls them his “memory sketches” because he draws the iconic motif completely by hand.

Given the Louis Vuitton Monogram’s ubiquitous status, I chose to hand-draw it in a really spontaneous way, almost. like sketching from memory ~ Urs Fischer ~

Oh, and if you’re wondering why it looks kinda inky and velvety, that’s because this collaboration brings on a new type of finishing for the monogram canvas known as Tufted Monogram Canvas, achieved by applying a tuffetage technique for that velvety finishing. Available in 2 colour combos – Black/Red and White/Black – the available bags include the On the Go GM tote, the Pochette Accessoires, Speedy Bandoulière 25, Keepall Bandoulière 45, Neverfull MMand a brand new vertical tote style known as the LV x UF Cabas which is kinda like the Sac Plat in some ways, but not quite because it’s not as stiff and slightly more rounded on the top. Oh, and though the Pochette Accessoires is the single version and not the Multi, this time, it comes with a longer shoulder strap which allows for crossbody wear.

We’re fans of anything graphic, so needless to say, we really like this collaboration, even though we’re not usually fans of oversized allover logos. Our pick would definitely have to be the Speedy as well as the Stellar Sneaker in the Black/White variation! As with any artist collaboration, it’s certainly one for keeps!
