#LFW: Introducing Burberry Prorsum’s Spring/Summer 15 Runway Bag

Burberry Prorsum’s Spring/Summer 15 Women’s RTW collection is entitled “The Birds and the Bees”. I know exactly what you’re thinking over there, because whenever we hear that phrase, usually only one thing that comes to mind: The TALK.  Yep, that dreaded talk that both parents and their offspring get majorly awkward about. But what Christopher Bailey showed on the runway with this theme in mind, was nothing at all overtly sexual, but uber-feminine. I don’t think I can get over how ethereal the pleated tulle dresses looked! In fact, I’d even go as far as to dub them couture-worthy!

The book cover prints that are part of the Men’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection was the thread that tied both the Men’s and Women’s collections together over. However,  instead of drawing on writers as inspiration, they featured, yup, you guessed it – insects (particularly hand-drawn butterflies and honey bees) and flowers. In fact, the Bag of the SS15 season is none other than the “Bee Bag”, and the “Mini Bee Bag“. Made of hand-painted leather, the Bee bags are finished with lustrous patent leather trims and heritage-inspired buckle fastenings.

And oh, this is the first season that Cara Delevingne took her seat at the Burberry Front Row with Kate Moss instead of walking the runway! Notice Cara’s Mini Bee with her initials?

The Verdict: A simple silhouette is made interesting with that frame-like design utilising unconventional colour combinations. Of course, with someone who is all for colour-blocking, this is definitely one bag I’d love to see more of come Spring (but oh, I prefer the bigger size instead of the Mini version).

And, as per the usual Burberry tradition, the runway collection – coats, jackets, nail colours, and yes, of course the bags – can be pre-ordered and purchased from now until 29th September. You get your items within 9 weeks (i.e. 3 months before they launch globally in Burberry boutiques, plus you can personalise your purchases with your initials!) Head on over to the Burberry website to do so!

If you missed the SS15 Runway show live, you can still watch it here via the on-demand video service!
