#PFW: Chanel FW17 Runway and Bags Report

Karl does it again! This time around, the Grand Palais was transformed into an elaborate Space Centre, with control towers and a rocket that actually lifted off during the finale! Models wore bug-eyed sunnies, glittery boots, and there was even a cape of sorts that looked like a metallic silver version of a blanket/mattress protector. In terms of the colour palette there were lots of monochromatic looks, as well as metallic silver, a rather typical colour for anything space-themed. In this case, I’ve termed it as Jetsons Couture. Headbands, too, are back in a big way, and I couldn’t be happier, because I’m a total headbands junkie.

Now, on to the bags….

This kinda reminds me of a more refined version of Proenza Schouler’s PS1 don’t you think?

The Verdict: The metallic silver backpacks and tote were too “in your face” for me, and kinda reminded me a little of the Cocoon bags. That said, I’m really not a fan of the day bags, but the evening minaudieres like the Orb, the UFO-like bag with beads as tassels (actually, it could also resemble a jellyfish, lol) and even the floral gem embellished metallic tweed flap bag were quite stunning. But needless to say, the Rocket minaudière was definitely the best of all, and a great piece for Chanel collectors out there.
