Montblanc Muses Special Edition: Marilyn Monroe For Valentine’s Day

Red, the colour of love. Montblanc has released a new Muses Edition writing instrument, as a homage to one of the biggest stars and sex symbols of the 20th century, Marilyn Monroe, for Valentine’s Day. This special Muses Edition comprises 3 types of pens: a fountain pen, ballpoint, and rollerball.

From its colour and shape, to the pearl that adorns the pen’s clip, each design element on these writing instruments was inspired by the starlet’s signature style. The pen’s unique shape is reminiscent of the 4-inch heels that became part of her personal style, while the intense red resin was inspired by her red lipstick. Its champagne gold fittings including the slanted top cap, and Au585 gold-coated nib featuring an engraved portrait of Monroe herself (the very same one that Andy Warhol did of her), with a heart-shaped hole on the nib, is the very first of its kind in the Muses collection.

Known for wearing a single row of Akoya pearls, which were a gift from husband Joe DiMaggio, you’d also find a single pearl, on the pen’s clip. Perhaps the song she’s most known for, “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend”,  whose title has in itself become a catchphrase that is still in use today, you’d also notice diamond shapes engraved on the cone of these Special Edition writing instruments, alongside Monroe’s signature.

With the meticulous attention to detail, this is nothing short of a tribute in the truest sense.
