Introducing: the DiorClub3 Sunglasses
You’ve seen Dior‘s DiorClub1 sunnies straight off the Spring/Summer 18 runway. It’s probably the first time we have ever seen a visor serve a dual purpose, and I understand that it really isn’t for everyone. Personally, I prefer sunnies that actually look like sunnies, and I love them oversized. So, if you’re like me, then I think you’d find the DiorClub3 eyewear much more wearable.
For this pilot-shaped pair of sunglasses, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri also sought inspiration from the same series of experimental artworks, Les Tirs, by Niki De Saint Phalle. Reminiscent of the type of protective eyewear that the artist herself wore during her rifle-based performances, this is the reason why they look like pilot sunnies cum protective goggles that you wear in science labs.
I applaud Chiuri for thinking of this and incorporating the protective bits on the side into the design, because whenever I wear sunglasses, no matter how oversized they are, sunlight still finds a way to get in from the sides, in the gap between the lenses. This, on the other hand, has got you covered (pun intended). And since it’s part of the Spring/Summer 18 collection, they come in vibrant colours like blue, fuchsia, or yellow. Alternatively, you can also opt for the grey version if you’re going for a more sci-fi kinda vibe.
