Melissa x Baja East Bucket Bag

Melissa, known for its collabs with Vivienne Westwood, Jason Wu, and Karl Lagerfeld, to name a few, has a new collaboration in store for us! This time around, the Brazilian shoe label renowned for its plastic shoes, has collaborated with New York-based contemporary label Baja East, which classifies their brand as "loose luxury". As we know, Melissa shoes are all made of plastic, so the design duo Scott Studenberg and John Targon came up with the idea of creating a textured type of plastic, that resembles python skin, which they have termed "plastic python".  With "plastic python is the new black" as the tagline for this collab, the duo actually scanned actual python skin to create this faux python texture in a matte finish to create the illusion of real snakeskin scales, yet 100% cruelty free.

Of course, since Melissa is all about shoes, the collection comprises a python heel, python desert boot, and the "Thriving" tiger print beach slides, but today, it's all about this Melissa Bag x Baja East, because it really isn't often that we get to see Melissa doing any bags.

This bucket bag comes with a woven tricolour rope-like drawstring and strap, which, again also resembles that of snakeskin, and a shoulder guard with "Melissa + Baja East" on it, and is available in   white, black, or blush pink for US$170. Given the open-top nature of the bag, it also comes with its own removable necessaire pouch in a glossy finishing, and an attached wrist strap in which you can stow your valuables.
