The New Year has just come and gone, and now Chinese New Year (or Lunar New Year, which falls on January 28th this year) is already upon us! The upcoming Chinese New Year, according to the Chinese Zodiac, is the Year of the Rooster, and the Maison has created a version of the Dior VIII Grand Bal Plume timepiece, specifically for the festivity. The watch comes with a glossy red alligator strap, and is embellished with a sun-brushed yellow gold and red-coloured dial -- both colours of which are considered culturally auspicious because they signify wealth and good fortune, respectively.
For that ultimate luxe appeal, the dial and bezel are adorned with diamonds, that encases the automatic movement exclusive to Dior, the Dior Inversé 11 1/2" calibre featuring a patented and functional oscillating weight that carries the "rooster's feathers". This 36mm automatic Grand Bal Plume in steel, yellow gold, diamonds, and feathers, is limited to 88 pieces worldwide (because the number 8 in Chinese, symbolises prosperity, so what more a double 8? ;) )
