I am a fan of unicorns, and when I saw Kate Spade's latest Unicorn Balloon clutch, it didn't immediately strike me as a unicorn. It undoubtedly takes inspiration from Jeff Koons's ubiquitous Balloon Dog sculpture, but even though it's a metallic pink hard-cased clutch, and I love pink, it didn't really make much of a difference to me. And, apart from that horn protruding from the top of its head, it honestly struck me as a poor imitation of a Koonsian piece. Perhaps this is one of those pieces that we either either love or hate, and for those of you who love this, you'd be glad to know that this unicorn is flying into Kate Spade stores in January, which is like, well, hardly a week away.
