Moschino Resort 2017 Runway and Bags Report

A couple of days ago, Jeremy Scott showcased both the Men's Spring/Summer 2017 show and Women's Resort 2017 show at the same time, on the runway. Well since this blog focuses primarily on bags (and also men's bags, instead of men's ready-to-wear), I thought I'd do a Resort 2017 runway and bags report instead!

For the women's Resort 2017 there was a distinct 60s vibe that resonated throughout the collection, thanks to a psychedelic palette, tie dye, peace signs, and all that flower power going on, and plenty of crochet and even bags that were put together by the "Granny Square" motifs, that ladies who crochet would be very familiar with. There was also an unmistakable Indian influence with all that vibrant circular cut-outs (which would traditionally be filled with "mirrors" on traditional Indian national dress and costumes),  "Moschino" fonts in Hindi-inspired typography, as well as the cartoon-esque illustrated snake, monkey, peacock, elephant and tiger characters, which are closely associated with the Indian culture and religious beliefs. The now almost iconic Biker jacket bags have been downsized, and given an update, embellished with leather appliqué flowers and floral embroidery. There's even one which has been given a sporty update, resembling a sports hoodie, with the long sleeves tied together at the ends which serves as the bag's strap.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the florals, but I love the cutesy animal characters, and especially brights colours, so I don't really mind this colour palette, or the fact that these bold tones are being paired together colour-block style. But for those who don't, they may find this collection a tad garish for their liking.
